SOUTHSIDE

There is a river that has mud in it that you can throw at people. Wood and more wood and sand and finally water. But there are lots and lots of thorns. That is the bad bit. Also nice cool water so when your feet are too hot go in the water. I like watching the water when a kawhai is being hauled in. I like eating kawhai.

GREYMOUTH

30 minutes from Hokitika to Greymouth. Greymouth has a great movie place and you can act for people. There is a big river in Greymouth and on the other side are small towns. At the warehouse you can buy anything practically. My favourite two places are KFC and McDonald’s. By Aimee

HOKITIKA

Hokitika has a lot of lovely places to visit. You could go to the Jade Factory to see all of the jade or visit the Custom House by the river. The town clock would make a lovely photo but if you want to see a boat the Tambo would be the place, you could look out at the sea or have a play on the beach. So Hokitika would be the best place on the coast.

 WAIMANGAROA

My favourite place in the West coast is Waimangaroa.  Some of my family live there and when I go there I stay at my Nana’s and Pop’s  farm and sometimes I help my Pop shift the cows. My cousins live on the same farm and me and Dad  walk down to their house with my dog Benny and I play with them then go back to Nanas and Pops. One time when I was there I saw a new born calf with its Mum trying   to walk. I always have lots of fun there  and I am always sad to come home.

My favourite place is RDA. I ride horses. My favourite horse is Cocoa. I also like Magic, Dayna, Frank and Sabrina.

Can You Guess?

Across two rivers and half an hour away. One of our papers is named after the town. With lots of shops like The Warehouse, Subway, McDonalds, Toy World and KFC. Isla Grant performs at the theatre and they have , the aquatic centre and the hospital.

With all these clues can you guess where my favourite place on the West Coast is? You guessed it. Greymouth is my favourite place on the West Coast because of all the shops like the warehouse and toy world. Also the great food places like Maggie’s Kitchen, Steamers and McDonalds.       

Greymouth’s park is really fun to play at and a great spot to have fish and chips with a fish and chip shop just across the road.

Lake Kaniere

Lake Kaniere is the 2^nd deepest   lake in New Zealand.

Lake Kaniere   is a fun place because you can kayak to an Island or swim to the Island and there is a cave on the Island.   The water is warm and if you are on a biscuit tied to a jet boat and you go over a wave from the boat you will get big air time and you will probably   fall off from the water.

The West Coast The Best Coast

KAWAKA
Through the fence and over the rocks you come to the best swimming hole in the universe. The water is refreshing and deep, there are no sandflies and everything is like a secret garden. There’s also a massive cliff you can swing off using a rope that is tied to a tree trunk, it is so awesome! Kawaka is certainly a great time for the family, for adults to sit back and relax and for kids to dive in and out of the water. I definitely think you should give it a try because I bet you will have the best time of your life! WRITTEN BY OCEAN

WESTPORT
Are we there yet how much longer it may be a journey but when you arrive it is very much worth it .My all-time favourite place in Westport is Carters beach with its yellow sand brighter than the sun and warm shallow waves and fascinating rock pools with star fish and crabs in them. If you go in to town on a weekend next to the museum there are markets they are fun and the museum its self is great. If you are looking for fun go to the park they have giant sea saws and the pool is great it has two swimming pools and a gym. And all the people are very nice there. The races are really fun. My family loves Westport and I do to. By Jasmine

PANCAKE ROCKS!!
Looking for an amazing view, try the Pancake Rocks. Where the waves crash against the rocks. The Pancake Rocks are a great place for a family trip and also for a walk. Even though it’s a long drive it’s worth it. My most favourite bits are the blow holes and the waves crashing against the rocks and you can take the most amazing pictures and it’s all free. Even though I’ve only been there once my camera is almost jammed with photos of the pancake rocks!!!!! By Caitlin

HAAST
Haast is fantastic. It is a little town with nice people. It is a hunting town too. You have got to see my cousins and aunty. There is an eel centre too. By Makaira

LAKE BRUNNER
In Lake Brunner I like skiing and kneeboarding and biscuiting but my favrite thing to do is wakeboarding. The town there is really cool it has two parks and a half pipe. It is really fun to scooter around. By Liam.

BRUCE BAY
Bruce bay is the best coast for me. It is near a beach. The river is pretty far from the beach. The only bad thing is the sand flies at the beach and at the river. The only good thing is the river because it is clear water and the Aotea in the private property and the Bach’s there. I forgot to tell you that there are sand flies at the river and at the beach.
